Meet Garuda
We are very proud to present our latest roving character Garuda!
We launched this amazing walking piece of art at our favourite local Multicultural festival- Riverlights and it was a resounding success.
Crowds love passing for pictures with the HUGE Wings which look great in the day but also light up at night. She makes any multicultural event memorable.
Who is Garuda?
Garuda emerges as a captivating figure, embodying the majesty of the king of the birds. Often depicted in dual forms—one as a colossal bird with magnificent, partially unfurled wings, and the other as a man adorned with wings and avian features—he symbolizes protection and vigilance. Garuda is not just a mythical being; he is a guardian spirit, soaring through the skies with unmatched speed and grace, eternally on the lookout for the serpents that threaten harmony.
The legacy of Garuda is deeply woven into the fabric of several cultures, serving as a national emblem in India, Indonesia, and Thailand. In Indonesia and Thailand, Garuda graces their coats of arms. Often associated with the Greater adjutant stork, Garuda’s presence transcends mere symbolism, representing a blend of power, nobility, and protection.
Garuda exists in several mythology including hindism and the word Garuda has roots in the verb gri, or speak. Itis a metaphor in the Vedic literature for Rik (rhythms), Saman (sounds), Yajna (sacrifices), and the atman (Self, deepest level of consciousness).
Rove and or perfomance
Our garuda was imported by our team from Indonesia and is performed by Indonesians so it is suitable for multicultural events, Indonesian and south-east Asian themed events and weddings. Garduda can rove freely in larger spaces, pose with folks and lead parades in the day or night. We guarantee you’ll be impressed by its authenticity and beauty.
We have a short but impactful 5 minute Indonesian dance performance with garuda and 3 dancers available should you wish to really impress.
