2) Palm Candles as an introduction to fire dance ( live fire!)
This 2-hour course will cover – fire safety basics,  This will set you up for success if you should ever want to perform with fire, support a friend or elevate/modernise your fire safety standards.
Learn basic palm candle moves, then we will take turns to light up and dance with fire in a safe supportive environment ( palm candles – supplied ).
I want to empower folks to claim a connection to fire, be brave and learn to hold a confident and powerful presence for fire dancing.
Be intentional and understand both the risks and rewards of the fabulous art form of fire twirling or fire dance.

These are the first steps on a journey you won’t regret, no experience or supplies are required.
Bring a friend so you can document the process , and lean into the ASMR whoosh of your first play with fire.

) Choreography (hertz) with kiki an easy palm candle /palm torch choreography that’s good for groups – it combines both Indonesian and bellydance/ oriental traditions. You can see us perform this choreography on the river of fire page . Im very proud of this collaboration and of how the dance can be performed at multicultural events. It has a strong lean to lean Indonesian dance steps with kiki who danced in Indonesia for many years as a fire dancer.

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn some Indonesian culture and to work with others in large scale troupe fire performances, a thing we have now come to specialise in.

We have taught this workshop a few times now but it is a dou workshop as it requires both me and kiki to run.

Palm candles or palm torches are a good prop for beginner fire dancers. There are reasonably small and controlled (static props) that are great for people to just slip onto their hands and add fire to existing dance skills. They are a great prop for Bellydance as it has a lot of suitable hand movements.

They simply slip onto your hand with palms facing upwards or downwards making these an incredibly easy way to add fire to any dance routine.
